Survivor 43 Scoop – Week 7 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments

As a wise person once said:

“Be careful with your words. Once they are said, they can be only forgiven not forgotten.”

This week’s episode of Survivor – “Bull in a China Shop” – featured a lot of important words spoken by a lot of people. Let’s break things down as the game could have potentially taken a very big and a very major turn with this episode.

“So, today the challenge was designed to really illustrate this idea of earning it every step of the way,” said host/producer Jeff Probst at tribal council.

Probst, who this episode wandered so far off the sidelines as a host that he was getting in the middle and in the way of players like Gabler on the course and also pointing out to players the mistakes they were making that could have cost them time like how it should be two people digging and reminding players they forgot their logs or their flags as they raced back to their mats.

And that idea about “earning it in Survivor….What about the advantage blatantly planted in the well right before tribal council?

“What the heck is that in here?” asked Dwight as he pointed out the bottle that wasn’t there before.

Is it “earning it” when idols and advantages fall out of the sky on a regular basis on the island as if it was located in the Upside Down or when a bottle containing a clue to an advantage just happens to show up in the water well right before tribal council as if Samara herself put it there because she was summoned with that cursed videotape?

“At the last tribal council not even everybody was available to be voted for. Over half of the players were safe while the other half of us were not. Now, things get interesting. Now, things have opened up and we can really see who is going with who,” explained Sami.

Sami is right. This is probably the most crucial episode of the season as it could very well chart the course for the rest of the game.

“There is the easy route. We can go with the Baka and Vesi alliance and vote between James and Ryan. We can take out James. That is the route Noelle has charted for us,” said Jesse revealing to us that he trusts Karla over Noelle.

Cody followed up with…

“This could be too early but Jesse and I have to be on the same page,” he said about shifting their allegiances.

Jesse and Cody certainly did get on the same page and took their shot as they voted out their own Vesi tribemate Dwight which also means they have turned on Noelle as well. With Jesse, Cody, Cassidy, James, Karla, Ryan and Sami voting for Dwight it seems a new distinct and varied alliance has formed. If they stick together it will be Gabler, Jeanine, Noelle and Owen lined up on the chopping block as we move closer to the final phase of the game with the new alliance having a seven to four majority.

Will those who were left out of the Dwight vote be able to turn things around, exploit cracks to put things in their favour and win those numbers back?

Dwight Moore

I kind of wish Dwight had more of a presence on the series then I would have more to say about his game and his time in it. He was really only a big character during the first few episodes. We saw him go to a summit and how his version of what went down wasn’t trusted across the board. Dwight had his disagreements with Jesse and that caused friction between the two but he worked with him and Noelle to vote out Nneka. After that, he went completely off the radar.

He worked well with Jesse and Noelle until their interests diverged.

The grad student fit in well with Vesi, however, the bonds he made just didn’t last.

At the start he was partnered with the movers and shakers. Once that dissolved though, all of the attention was on Jesse and Noelle.

Gabler was left out of the vote. He put an even bigger target on himself by winning immunity and carrying on and on at the challenge putting a bigger spotlight on himself.
