Survivor 45 Scoop – Week 8 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments

It took 15 seasons but finally the Survivor auction has returned to the American franchise. The disappointing part is that there was only one cruddy dish out of the nine. I guess that’s part of the so-called “new era”.
The players did have to scrounge the jungle for their money, there were no advantages up for grabs and the person with the most money at the end of the auction would lose their vote at tribal council so there were those twists to confound the castaways.
Here is how the auction played out:
A couple of notes:
1. Katurah gave her fish eyes back to Probst and Austin bought them for $100 but only ate a bit of one.
2. Jake bought the chocolate cake but he had to share it with two other people. He picked Julie and Bruce. They had to eat as much as they could before Probst’s hour glass emptied.
3. Because Bruce had the most money left at the end of the auction he lost his vote at tribal council.

We might have just seen the most important tribal council this season. A tribal that could determine how the rest of this season plays out.
The original Reba alliance along with Emily appear to have taken over Survivor 45. Austin, Julie, Emily, Drew and Dee teamed up to vote out Kellie of the original Belo alliance.

That leaves Belo’s Bruce, Kendra, Katurah and Jake on the outside looking in. One suspects though that with Kendra and Katurah voting against him that Jake will likely also align with Reba and Emily to oust the rest of the original Belo alliance. However things shake out it looks like it is original Belo versus the new Reba to the end. Who wil survive that civil war at Dakuwaqa? Stay tuned, folks.

She was too obvious a target as a strong player and being aligned with Bruce was a “guilt by association” deal. If Bruce hadn’t have saved himself he would have been toast for sure this episode.
Strategic Gameplay
She was the clear strategic brains at Belo. She made all the right decisions up until the merge and that is when everything cam crumbling down.

Her social game wasn’t strong enough to low her threat level or create a support system outside of the original Belo tribe.

Kellie began the game as a personal favourite of mine to go very far in the game. Unfortunately, she trusted in the wrong allies and couldn’t evolve her game once the merge came.

He had better adjust his strategy and his allies or he could be on his way out of the game.
There isn’t much further he can fall. He is at rock bottom.
She should have broken away from Bruce, Belo and formed new partnerships. Perhaps Jake would have gone instead of her tonight.
He was smart enough to dodge a bullet.
Emily worked and solidified her alliances well.
He recognized Kellie as the threat that she was and rallied the troops against her.
