As viewers, we can never witness every moment of a castaway’s Survivor journey. There just isn’t enough time with so many stories on the island to tell and so many players to follow. Such is the case of any reality TV show. The reality we are seeing is the stories the editors, producers want to highlight. Chrissy Sarnowsky, the fire lieutenant from Chicago, wishes more of her adventure aired and talked to us about all the things we might have missed.

John Powell: Chrissy, thanks for taking the time to join us today. How are you feeling?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: I’m feeling all right!

John Powell: You got to watch everything back last night. How are you feeling this morning?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: You know, it was interesting to watch. There was a lot of s–t I didn’t realize was happening, a lot of s–t.

John Powell: They released a new scene today showing you on an idol hunt with Kyle while the others were gone. That’s something that didn’t make it to the broadcast. Tell us a little about that and working with Kyle.

Chrissy Sarnowsky: Kyle’s a game player. Man, as soon as we got back he literally had sand all in his eyes and he didn’t have me flush it until after. He was like: ‘Chrissy, we’re going!’. He says in the show that he wanted to go by himself but I don’t remember it that way. I remember him saying: ‘We’re going to search for idols.’ I was like” ‘Alright, let’s do it!’. We searched for a long time.

John Powell: You tried to find a crack in that core alliance. How hard was that?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: It was very frustrating. If you look at the numbers, we had the Civa five. There was 10 people. Star lost her vote, so there’s nine votes. We had the numbers if we would have stayed Civa strong. I get it. I know when we switched tribes people formed other bonds. I saw that happen but even Kamilla and Kyle were pretty upfront with me. They said they were still willing to work with this Civa four but they also said they were working with Joe and Eva. They literally told me they were going to work the middle and try to get that alliance. They were going to try to get them comfortable…In my eyes, we had five Civa. They had four. This was the perfect time to try to go at that point. David? Who knows? David was lost…They don’t show it but I was sobbing to David at the water well, begging him to stay Civa strong and not go the other way because he had a better chance to win the million with us than them. I could just see in his eyes that I lost him.

John Powell: You think his decision was the turning point?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: David disagrees to this day. He says that Kamilla and Kyle had already switched. I think Kamilla and Kyle were playing in the middle.

John Powell: You mentioned some of the stuff that was going on behind your back. You were able to see the entire picture now. What surprised you the most?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: Kyle throwing my name out there to save Camilla. I was like, damn! I don’t blame him either. I texted him right away. I’m like: ‘I love you. There’s no hard feelings.’ But, if David wanted Kamilla out so bad…I don’t understand why David didn’t tell me that because my answers at tribal would have been different. I wouldn’t have went out with such a bang.

John Powell: The way the edit plays out, it seems as if nobody knows Kyle and Kamilla are a duo? Is that the was it was on the island?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: I knew they were working together because we were doing the Civa thing. I didn’t know they were that tight, how tight they got, but, yeah, I knew they were definitely working together. It was so funny because it was almost the opposite of Joe and Eva. Joe and Eva were so blatantly working together and then Kyle, Kamilla were doing so but undercover. It was two total opposite pairings.

John Powell: At tribal council we saw your fiery speech. You were not going to go out quietly. What was your plan going in and did you fear being targeted after such a speech?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: I knew going in, it was me. I knew. Nobody was talking to me. I tried to talk to Joe. He wouldn’t even look at me. I knew I was a goner…When Jeff (Probst) asked me a question I brutally, honestly answered a question to where it gets me in trouble whereas other people learn how to skip around the answer, say this and that. I did it every single council.

John Powell: What if anything do you wish fans would have seen about your Survivor journey?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: I don’t read social media but there was somebody saying I had a ‘purple edit’. I was like: ‘What’s purple edit?’. They answered: ‘You are non-existent.’ I’m like: ‘Damn! I totally got the purple edit!’. That’s fine. I don’t care….So much more happened like the crazy bonds. I was Kamilla’s biggest cheerleader. I love Camilla! I think she’s an awesome person!

John Powell: What about your strategic gameplay?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: They didn’t show me crying to David, me begging to David. I thought that would have been great. I can’t believe they didn’t show that…It’s so crazy how many different moves there are. It’s insane! How many different directions. I wish they’d show Joe and Eva running the game because that’s what’s going on right now. I look at it now and Joe seems like he’s the Godfather and everybody’s got to come to Joe and he says: ‘Let me, let me think about what’s going on.’

John Powell: The core alliance was pretty inpenertrable wasn’t it?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: They don’t even show it on the beach. When we voted out Sai, Joe says to me: ‘You’re not voting out Eva tonight. ‘ I was like scared of him…He really was protecting her big time and there was one point I asked Eva: ‘Who are you voting for?’ She goes: “Whoever Joe’s voting for.’ I was like: ‘Are you f—–g kidding me?’. It was so obvious.

John Powell: Are we getting a fair depiction of Joe or was his gameplay more forceful?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: I only got to work with him a couple days because then I left. It’s all your own perception, right? I saw Joe laughing and telling jokes about how he could take a gorilla down. I was f—–g dying. That just endeared me to him. So, I didn’t see that side of Joe. I only saw the side I saw. You’re talking two weeks no sleep, two weeks no eating, you know, fighting for your life here to try to get in. So, maybe my perception of Joe is off. I really think I have PTSD working on the fire department with firemen, like strong firemen. I always had to battle against strong firemen to prove myself and now here I’m working against a strong fireman so I never really think I gave Joe a benefit of the doubt because of my own stuff in my own head.

John Powell: As a member of the jury what were some of the things you were looking for in a winner?

Chrissy Sarnowsky: I want somebody that’s going to make moves…Like with Joe and Eva. They are playing the same game. How do I choose who gets the million dollars? If you’re playing the same game one of you is going to have to make a move. They just were like: ‘Whatever, we’re tight.’ In my mind you’re going to have to separate yourself at some point.
