Late Show: Sarah Paulson Admits to Not Watching Birdbox
The prolific Sarah Paulson visited Stephen Colbert on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for what must have been the umpteenth time – but who’s counting?
Someone is, because it’s her fifth time. FYI.
“Tequila is delicious,” she joked to play down her obvious giddy attitude. Paulson and Colbert always get along so well. You don’t go somewhere for a fifth time if you didn’t love the first four experiences.
And with that brought out a playful interview, like two old friends gossiping over empty tumblers of tequila. Because that’s how the interview went: Colbert asked for gossip, and Paulson dished. First on Glass director M. Night Shyamalan:
Has M. Night Shyamalan earned the Wes Anderson level of control over his actors’ performances? If you think “no”, go watch The Sixth Sense – it will change your mind. If you think “yes”, go watch The Happening – it will also change your mind.
Sarah Paulson went on about her massive Hollywood megastar Glass co-stars – particularly Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and James McAvoy – because Stephen wanted to know which of them had the biggest “delusion of grandeur”. It turns out it’s not any of them, because the real culprit on the set of Glass was Sarah Paulson herself.
Can you blame her? She’s given incredible performances in some incredible films and television series: The People v. O.J. Simpson, 12 Years A Slave, so many American Horror Story seasons… the list goes on. And, her most recent hit Birdbox has been viewed by nearly everyone with an Internet connection. Nearly everyone, because Paulson herself has not seen the film (assuming she has an Internet connection – that information is not widely available).
So Paulson doesn’t watch her own work – that means more for us, right? Not really, because viewings of television and films aren’t a quantifiable resource, obviously. But from the sounds of it, it does seem like there really is more Sarah Paulson for us around the corner.
Oh, and don’t actually go watch The Happening. It’s awful.
