Jason Momoa Will Fulfill His Dream of Hosting SNL This Weekend
Jason Momoa Will Fulfill His Dream of Hosting SNL This Weekend
Live from New York, it’s Jason Momoa! The tough-as-nails Game of Thrones and DC Extended Universe actor is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, with musical guest Mumford & Sons!
The jack-of-all-trades – actor, director, producer and writer – Momoa is set to host SNL this weekend, December 8. He’s on a hot streak right now, starring in Netflix’s Frontier and as the titular character in the upcoming DC superhero movie Aquaman. Maybe you’ve seen him as Aquaman before – he appeared as the character first in Batman v Superman, and again in last year’s Justice League. This time around, though, he’s the main event.
Momoa is one of those people whose dream is to host SNL – one of his dreams, anyway. He’s recently shared that hosting SNL is number three in his three part checklist – the first two being marrying his wife, and having his kids.
Having dreamt, as a youngster, to host SNL is what so many people say to start out their monologue, so chances are Momoa won’t be able to contain his excitement either. Hosting SNL really is a mark of success, and soon Momoa will be up there with the greats like George Steinbrenner, MC Hammer, Rudy Giuliani, Steven Seagal…
Well, it’s definitely a prestigious achievement, despite some outliers who managed to fumble their way up there, too.
Backing up Momoa is a band consisting of mostly backing up musicians, Mumford & Sons! They’re an old hat for SNL, having appeared on the show a few times already as musical guest.
Now, for a little (more) about SNL’s own tabloid darling,Pete Davidson. Davidson is a mental health advocate – because the advocacy is a sort-of by product of his comedy. But he’s been very open about his mental health issues, in an effort to raise awareness and reduce stigma. But that openness has brought him a whole other kind of grief recently. Davidson has revealed that he’s been verbally attacked over the past 9 months via social media due to his relationship with Ariana Grande. While this kind of thing is often the subject matter of his work on SNL, it’s never seemed to negatively affect his performances. So, everyone be nicer to Pete Davidson – he’s too good for that kind of thing.
Between Momoa’s enthusiasm, the all-Trump-all-the-time life we’re living and the almost guaranteed high profile celebrity cameo, this weekend’s Saturday Night Live is going to be one to not miss!
