Kieran Culkin and Ed Sheeran Grace Your Sets On Saturday Night Live
Next up to host Saturday Night Live this weekend is… Kieran Culkin? Really? Okay, unexpected but that’s awesome! Let’s go!

The Liam Hemsworth of the Culkins
Kieran Culkin has kind of always been around. He’s best known for his role as brother to Macaulay Culkin in real life (and also brother to Kevin McCallister in Home Alone). But also he’s appeared in lots of stuff over the years, like Fargo, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, and recently HBO’s hit show Succession. And now, he’ll be on Saturday Night Live – as host this time!
Some of you might not remember, because it was literally 30 years ago, but Kieran Culkin has been on SNL before. It was 1991, and Macaulay Culkin was hosting. There’s probably visual evidence of it out there somewhere, but be warned if you go looking for it. It was a weird episode, which included a sketch with Macaulay Culkin in a bath with Mike Meyers.
But enough about Macaulay and more about his brother. It’s reminiscent of the early 2000s and before, when it wasn’t all about getting the most popular and biggest stars to host, but rather people who might bring something unique, or different, or excellent to the show. Before Succession‘s popularity, he’d have been as unlikely to have hosted as Sam Rockwell (but before Sam Rockwell hosted).

The Times They Are A-Changin’
Remember last year, when country singer Morgan Wallen was held accountable for partying like it was 2019 – but it was 2020 and lots of people were still getting really sick? He was refused his invitation to play Saturday Night Live – but eventually invited back (mind this was before he was held accountable for using slurs as well). Well Bob Dylan might have been right all along, because times have changed: this weekend’s musical guest Ed Sheeran has recently fought with COVID-19 (and won, btw) but this buddy boy was kind enough to follow the agreed-upon rules. Sheeran is fresh out of his COVID quarantine COVID clean and ready to rock on SNL this weekend. Sheeran has been on SNL a few times already, and always is a charmer. He’ll put on a great show this weekend, and probably every time he returns after that.
You can’t do much better than Ed Sheeran anyways. So catch him, and Kieran Culkin, this Saturday at 11.30 et/8.30 pt on Global!
Saturday Night Live can be streamed live and On Demand on the new Global TV App and on STACKTV. Global is also available through all major TV service providers.
