Che on The Late Show

While this was Michael Che’s first appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, it wasn’t his first Late Show appearance! Before the keys to the car were turned over to Colbert in 2015, the show was hosted by David Letterman for many years. It was that show that Michael Che appeared on, though not without its own difficulty.

It’s always nice to hear Stephen nod to Dave on the new show.

Longest Running Weekend Update Anchor

Michael Che, alongside his co-anchor Colin Jost, is the longest running Weekend Update anchor in Saturday Night Live history! The previous record holder was Seth Meyers. Looking back, it’s hard to believe Che and Jost have been on longer than Dennis Miller or Tina Fey. But, well deserved, as Che brings a bit of snark and bitterness that none of the anchors before him had. Maybe it has something to do with him not liking the news?

But, there’s got to be a reason we never see him in sketches…

Maybe it’s because he’s off saving his best sketch game for his very own sketch game. That Damn Michael Che is a sketch show that he has all to himself. But he’s already on the biggest, king of all sketch shows now. Why another one?
