Survivor: David vs. Goliath Scoop – Week 2 Recap: Winners, Losers, Top Moments

Strength can be defined in so many different ways on Survivor. There is physical strength, mental strength and social strength. There is also strength of will and endurance.

So, how to keep a tribe strong is a very tricky question which most tribes have trouble with during the first phase of the game where the goal should be to avoid Tribal Council as much as humanly possible. When that merge comes you want to be on the right side of the numbers.

The David Tribe’s decision to drop the axe on Jessica Peet, the youngest player this season, makes sense strategically to disrupt a possible alliance but not when it comes to the challenges. It is not that Jessica is a powerhouse, however, she is quick and agile. Those are definite Survivor strengths which in past seasons have rounded out successful tribes. Davie, Carl and Bi were right. Jessica has far more to offer and far more potential when it came to challenges than Lyrsa.

The game has just begun and the David Tribe is already in a deep hole having lost two Immunity Challenges and two tribemates in a row. If they lose another, they very well could be at a deficit that is too great to overcome. Will their Tribal Council choice come back to haunt the David Tribe? Stay tuned.

Week 1: Game Fail – Jessica Peet

Jessica Peet’s departure from Survivor will go down as one of the oddest exits. Those who were aligned against her cited Jessica as possibly being a lynchpin but there is no footage, no scenes of her plotting, scheming in any real detail. Going by the edit, it looks as if Elizabeth and Gabby were more concerned with gaining the numbers as an alliance than improving the chances the Davids beating the Goliaths. If so, it just seems odd that on Day Six such a serious concern already come into play unless there are some aspects of the tribal politics that we as viewers are not aware of.

Strategic Gameplay

Jessica wasn’t developing as a power player but she did say in her exit that she played very aggressively. Could that be the real reason she went home? Maybe. Maybe not. Perhaps Jessica will have more answers during our interview tomorrow.

Social Gameplay

This was an obvious stumble. If Jessica had a strong social game she might have been able to sway more people to support her side of the argument. This is when a solid social game can make all the difference between being booted and being awarded that million dollar check.

Entertainment Value

Besides her being the youngest player we didn’t really get to know Jessica in any way, shape or form. From our narrow glimpses she was energetic, determined and ready to play. Jessica’s Survivor journal is regrettably full of empty pages and unanswered questions.
